Approximately 15 Brownies, ages 7 to 8, attended an evening program on Monday April 26th at Langley Orthodontics state of the art orthodontic braces and Invisible braces office in Langley, BC. The staff at Langley Orthodontics gave interactive presentations about proper brushing and flossing techniques, what cavities are, and how to avoid cavities. They also discussed what types of foods are good for your teeth and which sugary, sticky food to avoid.
“Around this age is when children are beginning to take charge of their oral care,” says Dr. Aly Kanani, an orthodontist with Surrey Orthodontics and Langley Invisalign. “So, it’s a critical time to teach them the basics of how to care for their teeth – which goes beyond brushing. A balanced diet is just as important for your teeth as it is for the rest of your body.”
The evening wasn’t only educational. There were fun activities for the brownie troop, including storytelling and watching animated presentations, all at Langley Orthodontics in the heart of Langley, BC. And each Brownie had a smiling photograph of them taken to take home and also had a mould of their thumb taken. It was cast in stone and each Brownie will soon be able to take their mould home to show their family and friends as a keepsake.

About Dr. Aly Kanani
Dr. Aly Kanani was born and raised in the Lower Mainland Area. He has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Physiology from McGill University and received a Masters of Science (M.Sc) from the London School of Economics in England. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) and also completed his Masters in Education degree (MS.Ed) at the University of Pennsylvania. Furthermore, he has nearly completed his Masters in Public Health degree (M.P.H.) from Johns Hopkins University.
